We meet Casey Rochell, a DJ who has down's syndrome. The spot is a clever showcase of his sheer talent, as he mixes a damning voice over, discussing the invalidity of down’s syndrome sufferers as human beings, into an upbeat track that rightfully and defiantly celebrates his, and other’s with down’s, and their individuality as people.
Although only a minute long, the spot is hard-hitting, to-the-point, and provides viewers with an underlying feeling of determination and a certain rebelliousness. You see how someones disability can very much be their best strength and celebrated as such, rather than as their biggest weakness.
Head of Colour, Seamus O'Kane, tells us; " This intense and emotional spot has a graphic simplicity that provides an uncluttered visual for the complex, haunting and powerful sound design. We were very conscious of the impact made by the chilling vocal announcement and that really influenced the style we achieved. Working with the light and shadow within a palette of grey is always interesting and here we had the added stimulus of producing a celebration against the narrowness of preconceived judgments."
