The Mill’s VFX team created a 4K pipeline in order to bring the emotive project to life, ensuring the highest quality and resolution of each plate, render and monitor was maintained throughout the process.
The artists worked to create a CG lighting environment in the product shots, mirroring the look and feel of the live action plates, utilising the wide spectrum of colours featured to create an informed colour palette and lighting style. The team also crafted CG camera moves to accentuate the unique curve of the Samsung TV.
In addition, The Mill developed a new technique to create the lights used on set. Producer Luisa Cruz Flade comments, "Aoife was keen to create the effect of traveling light that could be controlled in terms of speed as it moved across the face from colour into darkness. Ashley Tyas animated a variety of colours moving in and out of each other using gradients, which were then projected on set and captured using high-speed cameras. The effect is mesmerizing and it was a great experience working with DOP Daniel Landin."
