The new 60 second ad uses clever editing to emphasize the breadth of Honda's engineering, with all-terrain vehicles, boats, motorcycles and even Honda's humanoid robot Asimo all featured.
The ad was shot by director Scott Lyon over five days on a high security Spanish test track, on water, and in Honda's UK training facility. Scott is well known for his attention to detail and abilitiy to tell complex stories simply, and his skills was vital to the ad's success as editor Rich Orrick had 972 edits over 17 video layers to work with - essentially making each section an edit in itself.
Our very own Lead 2D, explains more, "As we were working with nearly 1000 shots in total it was to key to have an awareness of how the images interacted to build up the effects on screen in order to tell the story. For example by putting the multiple layers together and refining the way the wipes created a sense of movement, we were able to first create a sense of acceleration and then the later deceleration within the ad.
"Honda was a huge technical challenge but also a very exciting project to be involved with and working with a talented director like Scott is always a pleasure."
