The 10" spot shows the characters side by side, lighting up from below like a battery, beneath a stormy city skyline. "We created a Matte painting backdrop for the Misfits location, and the sky was chosen to create a "hyper real" feel to retain a look that has been established throughout the Misfits' campaign," our Flame artist Ben Turner explains. "We then embellished some in-camera lighting FX to create a look as if the Misfits were powering up like a battery."
But series 3 also came with a new challenge for Luke Colson, Head of Mill Studio. He explains, "We were also required to adapt our trailer into 43 separate deliverables for a nationwide out-of-home campaign including underground and train stations, Westfield shopping centers, and enormous city screens in Glasgow, Manchester and Edinburgh, to name a few." These short installations featured an individual character, but were still based on the same look as the trailer. "The ident called on a lot of experimentation, with the final look being executed in AFX and Flame by no less than 3 artists."
It was another great collaboration for the Mill Studio team and 4Creative, with whom we have previously worked on idents for Skins and Beaver Falls. Luke adds, "We love working with the 4 Creative team and we all agree that this latest spot definitely lives up to the standard set out by the previous work. I've no doubt our moody and graphical 'Out of Home' posters glaring out at people from a big screen several meter s high will have an amazing reaction!"
