Martin Lazaro, 2D Lead: "Dolce & Gabbana 'Street of Dreams' is one of the most cinematic spots I have worked on. The actors, the camera, the light, everything breaths film like no other commercial. Our goal was to fit the VFX in an invisible way to avoid disrupting the atmosphere of the film. The VFX included several green screen comps, car removal and signage clean up. The project was shot on 35mm with anamorphic lens, a very nice surprise in an environment currently dominated by digital cameras."
The scene floats through the streets of New York, following our two main characters as they rekindle a past relationship. We are treated to a glimpse of vintage Manhattan, and are instantly transported to a world of black and white, classic cars, and lace gloves. Director Martin Scorsese brings his aesthetic to the forefront, lingering on the skyline and the classic architecture of downtown.
The Mill's challenge was completing the amount of work in a short time frame. It was crucial to deliver 60 stand alone versions in quick turnaround, and 2D & 3D teams were equal to the task. This was a really exciting relationship to develop while working on such an incredible spot.
