The spot encourages viewers to reframe the way they think about the world, by seamlessly merging in-camera shots with glitchy effects that give the impression of being in a simulated environment.
2D Lead Artist James Mac explains ‘Directors Jonas and Julien had a very distinct vision for the final product. The aesthetic tastes were well-defined and the brief was clear. Given their experience, when they arrived, we were able to get into the nitty gritty very quickly.
The interesting discussions we had were centred around the viewer being convinced early in the edit that everything was in camera, before breaking away to very surreal places.
Jonas and Julien wanted to reframe the world. The design of the landscape, the glitch effects and accented surreal lighting in the final shot of the talent were our main talking points. The luminous, saturated, pink and blue hues in the sky added tremendously to the surreal nature of the piece. Working on this piece for Jonas and Julien was a lot of fun for the whole team.’
