Working in partnership with premium luggage brand Rimowa, Mill+ Director Russell Tickner and the team created this adventurous launch film promoting the take-off of the re-created Junker F13 plane.
In 1919 the first all metal commercial plane the Junker 13 took flight. Close to a century later, luxury luggage brand Rimowa has brought this classic back to life available to buy commercially.
Mill+ Director Russell Tickner explains ‘inspired by the original material of the Junker planes (duralumin) the team at Rimowa completely re-engineered the Junker F13 plane to true-likeness of the original design. The Mill+ production team was with Rimowa every step of the way, filming over several sessions in Switzerland during the design and build of this aircraft.
Our opening office set was all built inside a hanger which we rented out for the morning. That same hanger was then used to film our 360 degree showcase shots of the Junker Plane featuring our main talent and the very own CEO of Rimowa Dieter Morszec who is himself a pilot and the son of Rimowa founder Richard Morszeck.
The aircrafts first time taking flight was the same time we took our flying shots. As it was a nerve-wracking time for the engineers and pilots, the Mill+ team were under strict instructions not to direct the planes movements due to safety concerns. All flying shots were taking in close proximity from a helicopter and all movements were organic to the pilots decisions.’
