The Mill's Creative Director Wes explains ‘the approach which Director Sam Brown took when shooting was to use real dancers rather than animating shoes in CGI. Therefore we shot two professional dancers in black cat suits wearing the dance shoes, then covered off each set-up with a clean plate.
In post-production we removed the dancers, painted in shoes where they were obscured by the other dancer, then tracked and animated in CGI the insides of the shoes to composite into the shot. Although it sounds simple enough, there were challenges. But, we are always willing to take these on in order to make the end result better.’
This spot plays to the track ‘Two Can Have a Party’ by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. When the music stats playing and the shoes start dancing you can’t help but tap your feet along to the tune.
