The promo tells the story of a group of guys, bored of driving around in a beat up car in the blazing Summer through the winding roads of the Spanish southern coast.
The story soon takes a dark turn when the group discover an abandoned, brand new gold BMW. Unable to resist the temptation of taking a joy ride, the impulsive lead protagonist adopts the car as his own, driving through the streets looking at it adoringly, unable to believe his luck.
As the night sets in, Jimmy Whoo’s latest electronic track ‘Motel Music Part II’ pulses through the promo with the protagonist slowly passing a strip of bars, filled with neon lights and stumbling drunken women.
The scenes become increasingly obscure and blurred, the lead character at times morphing into a female, before passing out in the driving seat with the car appearing to drive itself. The final scene sees the car appear to swallow up the man, leaving the viewer bewildered at this whirlwind journey.
Mill Colourist Oisin O’Driscoll completed the dynamic grade, complementing the turbulent nature of the promo, which quickly changes setting.
Mill Colour Producer Dan Kreeger explains, “We knew this was going to be something special; the incredible edit by Joe Guest, the beautiful rushes from DOP Caezary Zacharewicz, all under Johnny’s masterful stewardship.
Oisin loved working with the material and has created something vibrant and exciting, but with darkness lurking just beneath.’
