Kristian, who plays the lovable character ‘Hodor’ in the HBO series is here seen in a new setting, working behind KFC’s counter.
Tension builds as her nervously awaits the lunchtime rush. The clock finally clicks over to midday and a sudden stampeded of hungry workers storm through the door.
Without holding back, the frenzied group quickly start demanding their orders of ‘chicken with fries’, growing more repetitive, impatient, and angry.
Overwhelmed, Kristian beings to repeat their orders back to them in a bid to calm himself in the madness. Soon he is stuck in a recurring narrative of the phrase ‘chicken with fries’, parodying the catchphrase of his Game of Thrones character Hodor, where he repeats his own name as his only means of communication.
The manic scene comes to a head when finally, one customer requests the new KFC Chicken Rice Box, leaving everyone seemingly mystified.
Mill 2D lead artists Gareth Brannan comments; ‘We worked to achieve a simple clean up and screen replacement to help enhance the parody of Kristian as a KFC worker against his starring role as Hodor in Game of Thrones.
This was a fun project to be a part of, and it was great to see a great idea being so well executed.’
The satirical element to the spot was also highlighted in the grade by James Bamford.
