The ad, set to The Cinematic Orchestra’s nostalgic “To Build A Home”, kicks off with shots of abandoned Downtown LA streets, subway stations, fax machines pilling with paper and a deserted grocery store and cart. As the rain starts beating stronger, the spot shifts to indoor scenes and cozy homes. A father hushing his baby to sleep, an older couple dancing in their living room, or a family gathered and laughing around their kitchen table.
Jamin Clutcher, 2D Lead comments, ”From the beginning of this project we knew this was going to be something special. Director Adam Berg so perfectly captured small, warm, wonderful moments inside each home. We always strive to make the best work, and when we get to start with footage as beautiful as this campaign’s, it inspires and encourages all of us to be wholly invested. Adam and VSA succeeded in creating believable and subtly quixotic worlds for us to visit for a few brief moments; worlds where we can easily relate and imagine ourselves in each small perfect corner of the world, sheltered from the storm.”
The contrast between the cold, dark, void outside world portrayed in the first half of the spot melts away with the soft warmth of each small glimpse into the home life of different families. This was enhanced by Adam Scott’s colour grade. He says, “I’ve always admired Adam and Chayse’s work. It was pleasure collaborating with them on such a beautifully crafted piece”.
Living a fulfilled life is about the people that are in it, let others worry about furnishing it.
