Following the first two promo’s, both also graded by Mill Colourist Oisin O’Driscoll, ‘The Valley’ explores the theme of female sensuality, pushing the dynamics of dance performance to communicate the complications of the two lovers and their story.
This final installment is strikingly stripped back in contrast to it’s predecessors, set solely in the baron-beachside setting in which the last promo “Next Time’ ended.
The woman gives an enchanting and powerful performance, battling with both the raging wind and her own emotions, symbolised through her animalistic movements and telling facial expressions.
Both the imagery and running track together harness a delicate and ethereal feel, capturing the beauty and the loneliness of the woman prior to the sweeping entrance of her female lover.
Mill Colourist Oisin O'Driscoll explains, "This video is my favorite of the trilogy. The images naturally had such a film quality with a strong colour balance from the mixture of pale skin tones and the strong teal and reds.
We wanted to keep the contrast low on this film and push a lot of depth into the colours that were naturally present. The teal material we wanted to keep in line with it's appearance in the first video for 'Soothing' yet maintain the light filtering through it.
I loved having the strong red hair to play with and the actress had such strong blush on her checks it enabled me to give a strong colour balance and style"
