The ad depicts the amusing and common scenario of a beloved family dog, in this case the Dulux Dog himself, creating a scene of chaos as he enters the family’s crisp and clean living room after a muddy walk.
As the iconic dog begins to shake himself dry, the shot falls into slow motion and the sheer extent of the havoc about to unfold is communicated to the viewer. Mud and water elements are sent flying across the white living room, soaking the young daughter who is playing at the piano and tarnishing everything in its path.
Mill 2D Lead Artist Carl Norton comments; 'We shot at a super-high frame rate to capture the detail and beauty of the dog as he starts to unleash chaos on the family home, interjecting back to real-time to highlight the destruction he has caused.
We worked up plates of droplets to achieve the volume of each element, although, thanks to some amazing luck on the day, we managed to capture a droplet hitting the girls face in the photo square-on, as opposed to comping it in after with the other CG droplets and splashes.’
