Set to feel like a 'student-meets-master' scenario, the short follows a young aspiring barber as he himself also seeks to become a master of his trade. The master, who is nothing short of wacky, puts the young man through his paces through a series of training activities that are otherwise completely unrelated to barbering, adding to the underlying comedy of the spot.
A dynamic grade completed by Mill Colourist James Bamford helps to take viewers on the journey with the characters involved on-screen. Starting with quick frames and a darker grade, the intensity of the learning journey is cleverly communicated to the audience. Rapid shots and momentary flash lighting add further to the manic character of the master, while a softer grade at the end of the spot shows the turning point in the young mans ability, going from student to master.
