Working BBH, and Director Luke Franklin out of Moxie Pictures, The Mill helped to create this sentimental spot for Tesco’s latest campaign, ‘Love Food Stories’.
The warm-hearted piece follows husband David as he lovingly prepares his wife, Maria, one of her favourite dishes. It’s soon revealed that Maria’s love of spicy food is not a shared appreciation between the couple, something that David has successfully hidden since she initially told him on their first date over 15 years ago. David has been secretly adding a dollop of yoghurt into his curry ever since, while wife Maria remains none the wiser.
This gently humorous spot is one in a series of ads for the food retailer and is a nod towards the unity that food and mealtimes often creates between strangers and families alike.
Mill Colourist James Bamford created the subtly rich grade. He comments, “We went for a really natural approach to this project, curating a grade that feels deep and rich without losing too many details. We shaped the image quite a bit to help with the cosy feeling, keeping it as cinematic as possible throughout, with the eye being thoughtfully led. The subtle but wholesome grade compliments the storyline throughout, giving a really rounded feeling of warmth and happiness.”
