This installment of the campaign, which has seen the fictional couple played by comedians Ruth Jones and Ben Miller take on the role of ‘everyday customers’, sees Jones internally contemplating the daunting task that is Christmas.
As she walks through the store, the classic Christmas tune Slade ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ starts playing and she begins to look pessimistically at the task ahead but, as time goes on, she then begins to fondly reminisce on special festive moments such as her uncle Gethan twerking.
By the end, as her husband approaches with a pack of Tesco mince pies, she replies to his request to purchase them with, ‘Bring it On’.
Mill 2D Lead Artist Dan Williams explains, ‘It was great to work on this series of ads with BBH and Director Daniel Kleinman and watch the evolution of these highly likable characters.
In this festive installment we worked to create subtle changes to the store environment, enhancing the overall look of the spot and we also did some food beauty work in the background of shots.
The most complex part of the job was a series of head replacements, which were selected to best represent the individual performances of the cast, matching specific moments to the tone and humour of the dialogue which takes place over the footage.'
