The team used a real leather model of Rexy as reference, so they could perfectly match its material properties whilst developing the character in CG. The animation team also paid close attention to the movement of Rexy, ensuring they compensated for physical restrictions presented in the lovable dino’s arm length by adding in shoulder flexibility to ensure smooth animated movements.

Director Bryce Wymer, had the challenge of breathing life into a teenage Tyrannosaurus Rex character and establishing a personality in which people can relate to and have a connection with. Once Wymer laid out his live action story, the upbeat holiday spot was able to portray Rexy's enthusiasm to cause havoc in Coach's New York City workshop.
