The spot presents a talented young gymnast, showcasing her skills, appearing to be strong and defiant in spite of the challenges she has faced. This depiction of strength, rather than fear and pain which are often associated with child abuse features alongside the titles created by The Mill’s Motion Design Team, explaining the hardships she has faced and make for an inspiring and positive representation of vulnerable children.
The Mill’s Head of Colour Seamus O’Kane explains, "Instead of a picture of endless despair these films show how children refocused their lives and excelled. Director Sara Dunlop wanted to keep the look of these spots as authentic to the locations as possible. Her vision was to allow the characters to become a beacon of success within a landscape of failure.
Director Of Photography Antonio Paladino sought to embrace this and wrapped the characters with a fragile intensity dictated by the confines of the scene. I let the grade act upon the gentle separations between this light and the shadows, pushing the lighting further and using tonal variations to enhance and define the contrast between subject and environment.
The intensity of the performance was thus elevated and the harsh environment mitigated in a sympathetic illustration of achievement.”
