In ‘World of Play,’ one spot of LG’s G5 ad campaign, we see Statham demonstrate how to play with and interact with… himself.. on the G5 phone.

The process of integrating seamless face replacements included shooting multiple motion control plates with the real Jason Statham, as well as shooting with doubles whose faces were later replaced. Once Statham’s face was composited onto each actor, the 2D team finessed the shots and elevated the effects with CG Bulls, matte painting and dust, glass and fire simulations. 

The Mill’s Head of Production, Andy Sommerville explains, “Literally everyone in this LG world had to be Jason Statham regardless of their sex or physical appearance. When it comes to face replacements, getting the angles, lighting and movement correct is notoriously tough so we engaged a number of different techniques to achieve the best results depending on the requirements of the shot. These ranged from combining multiple motion controlled plates of Jason, to replacing faces and heads only. We also took a full CG scan of Jason’s head which we used for reference and to aid with projections.”
