Collaborating with Saatchi & Saatchi and Director Jeff Labbé out of Academy Films, The Mill created this heartwarming spot, one in a series of two, for HSBC’s latest campaign.
The ad tells the story of ‘Chung’ and his journey through life, from being a young boy dreaming of becoming a famous kung-fu star to eventually becoming a surgeon after suffering from an unfortunate leg injury which destroys his career. His story presents the sometimes unexpected turns in life, when his daughter, many years later unwittingly takes up the previous passion of her father. The message from HSBC is that they will be there for their customers, throughout all of these changes as ‘It’s life that writes the best stories’.
Mill Colourist Mick Vincent explains, 'It is always a pleasure to work with Jeff and on this job we were able to work closely together in the studio to experiment and create the right tone and feel for the spots. It was important to portray the sense of a passage of time through each scene to allow the viewer to connect to the story of the character's presented.'
