The Mill worked with Director Joanna Bailey out of Bare and JWT London to bring Quality Street’s seasonal advert to life.
To many families Quality Street selection boxes are synonymous with Christmas, and the holidays don’t begin until the household has a box for everyone to pick their favourite treat from. With this in mind, the film replaces another symbol of Christmas – snow – with the jewel coloured chocolate wrappers, which float gently from the sky over the residents of Quality Street who dash around trying to catch them.
Mill Colourist Seamus O’Kane describes working on the spot, "Director Joanna Bailey built upon the idea that the impending festive season can be heralded by the sight of the familiar hues of the Quality Street wrappers and she set this engaging premise amidst the falling afternoon light of a city street. Director of Photography Martin Hill captured soft hued images, which gave us latitude to create a gathering velvety wrap of colour that became a playful background for the wrappers to flutter through.
The initial grade allowed the post to commence and we followed on with a final grade upon the embedded images. The warmth and charm of the results perfectly compliment the heritage of this familiar brand and the joy we take from the simple concept of sharing."
