The Mill, along with VCCP and Neil Gorringe out of Moxie Pictures have created a fun 30 second spot for ASDA which follows on from their longer #BecauseitsChristmas seasonal campaign.
In this spot we see two dogs dressed up in their Christmas finery locking eyes and running towards each other across a frosty field. Catching up with them are their equally festively attired owners who can’t help but glance back at each other as they continue on their Christmas walks.
Although poking fun at the sentimentality of many Christmas adverts, especially with a Celine Dion soundtrack, the spot still ties in with the wider campaign’s emphasis on the simple joys of Christmas and their tag line “Save money, live better.”
Lead 2D Artist Gareth Brannan says, “ASDA Christmas was a great project to kick-off the festive season. We had a lot of fun adding a little extra Christmas cheer to what is a real feel-good film. Our aim was that the piece should have a really sharp look, but we also used matte painting to bring frosting to all the plates which gave a winter aesthetic.”
