The Mill worked with Contagious and Directors Jon Riche and Simon Parkin at Weilands, in order to produce the 'Be Part of the Story’ campaign for auction house Bonhams featuring a precious 10 carat diamond ring.
Both opening films in the campaign, ‘Diamond’ and ‘Car’, tell a compelling story narrated by the celebrated actor, Michael Gambon.
They focus on how objects and works of art outlive us all and how buyers and sellers can add their own chapter to their history.
‘Diamond’ shows an antique diamond lying lost and forgotten beneath the floorboards until a young girl searching for her pet finally discovers it. The storytelling in this piece reflects Paul Weiland’s hopes that, “‘Be Part of the Story’ would encourage more people to think about what valuables might be sitting unloved in an attic and bring them to sale to be enjoyed once again.”
Colourist Oisin O’Driscoll recalls, “This project was a pleasure to work on. Directors Jon Riche and Simon Parkin wanted a very different look for the two commercials in this campaign. For ‘Diamond’ we went with a warm pinkish tone to bring out the glistens in the diamond and to add to the romance of the story. A lovely accompaniment to the dark and brooding car spot.”
