EastEnders: They're Back
With his good eye and feel for catching the appropriate mood, Ron Scalpello directed this 60-second BBC promo to whet the appetite of EastEnders fans. Bianca's famous bellow cuts through Ricky's apprehensive approach just as an explosion inside the Queen Vic blows out its windows, hurling shards of broken glass, and Ricky, to the ground.

Flame artist Paul Wilmot helped it all go with a bang. He tracked the pub blasts in the EastEnders studio, then back at The Mill, layered three explosion takes and Ricky's action plate into one fantastic shot. It took over three days to remove unwanted dust from the explosion, to add and remove the shattered glass and smoke from around Ricky (who was composited into the shot), to create reflections on the pub windows and shattered glass, and to enhance Bianca's reflection on the broken shards. The Mill's Adam Scott did the atmospheric grade.
