'Football', the first spot, was directed by Toby MacDonald at The Paul Weiland Film Company, through TBWA/London, with effects created at the Mill. In a fast-moving sequence of clips set in everyday situations, various enthusiasts try to recreate a Michael Owen goal for other bemused individuals, such as a young beauty looking perplexed as her manicurist shifts her nail-varnish bottles about to demonstrate the action. The spot ends with a new Hutchison 3 mobile screening of Owen scoring the goal.
The Mill put the football goal footage on to the phone screen, composited a golf ball to fly at the camera as a golfer tries to recount the action leading up to the goal and, along with much else, they added the water droplets caused by the golf ball splashing into a pond. Mill telecine artist Adam Scott graded the spot.
