The 30 second spot, created by the Matt MacLand and Brett O'Connor at VCCP and directed by The Mill's Russell Appleford, 'Spotlight' cleverly highlights the benefits of the Wartner Pen, designed to rid sufferers of painful and unsightly warts three times quicker than conventional liquids and gels.
The campaign, which broke on April 22nd in the UK and then throughout Europe, features people who are put under an unwelcome 'spotlight', whether it be from a curious desk lamp, a streetlight peering in to shine in on them asleep in bed or even their own dining room lights turning their attentions to cast a light on the embarrassed sufferer.
Omega Pharma's VP Global Marketing & Sales Christoph Staeuble said, "This new innovation will help us reinforce our position as the number 1 wart and verruca treatment in Europe."
"All of the lights were created in 3D as nothing was shot in camera," explains Jamie Lancaster, The Mill's Lead 3D on the project. "For each shot we would shoot a reference plate with a real 'static' light in position. This was done so that our director Russell could actually compose the shot, but it would also serve as an invaluable reference for the 3D team for position and lighting. The main 'hero' shot would then be shot 'clean', with someone (out of shot) shining a torch where the animated CG light would be shining. This meant that animation-wise we were fairly constrained by whatever the real shining light was doing - i.e: we couldn't have the animated lamp looking around the place while the real torch light was stationary."
