'Shadow Puppets', employs the skills of puppeteer Raymond Crowe who used his hands to animate rabbits and birds which were then projected onto buildings. In 'Fish' a suburban street is turned into an open air aquarium complete with remote controlled floating fish, inflatable seaweed, bubbles and a car that's transformed into a sea anemone thanks to hundreds of rubber gloves. In both spots, the reactions of bystanders are captured as they seek to record the event and share texts and photos using their cell phones.
Director of Photography, Ellen Kuras (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), was keen to mimic the 'warm and delicate' lighting conditions captured on test stills. So working alongside director Garth Davis - noted for his cinematic sensibilities - the decision was made to shoot the majority of the ads using the new Cannon D5 camera. This innovative approach produced a vast amount of HD data but successfully captured the look Ellen and Garth were after.
Agency Producer, Sara Krider notes, "The Mill's involvement was integral to the success of the ads when we shifted formats last minute. The shoot supervisor and team back in LA made the transition seamless."
