It's all change in the judges' chairs this series and Creative Director Oscar Cariss and Director Paul Quinn wanted this to be a slick, glitzy and epic introduction to the new judging panel of 2011. The spot, entitled 'The Next Generation', made its debut on Friday 5th August and will air across the ITV network.
Shot on set in Liverpool whilst the actual X Factor show was being filmed on a stage next door, judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Louis Walsh each strutted their stuff down large monochromatic corridors so we could get the shots we needed. The set allowed for many of the shots to be captured in-camera, but the 15 foot corridor sections needed to look never-ending, so our 2D team was required to do a lot of Roto, set extension and composting in almost every shot. The final reveal of the logo was a CG build, using Massive software for the crowd replication.
The glamorous look was completed with a sleek and futuristic grade from Colourist James Bamford.
