Simon Rattigan director, called on The Mill to bring his vision alive, as explained by Producer Chris Batten: "Before the ad was shot the first thing to do was time out the conversation between both billboards. Using location stills we modelled a CG pre-vis environment that Simon was able to use to realise exactly how long each line of the conversation would need to be.
The commercial was then shot continuously for 14 hours capturing one frame every 66 seconds with the billboards being replaced every hour. As the day turned to night, on specific camera angles two cameras were used. One exposed to capture the sky detail, the other exposed for the foreground. These plates were then composited by our Lead operator Rich DC.
The result….a beautifully shot conversation by two well-known brands.
The grade was completed by Seamus O'Kane and 2D lead by Richard DeCarteret.
