Director Martin Granger brought his famous comic touch to these two spots. A teenage boy in 'Blender Hands' proudly tells his friends they can make smoothies anytime they want, now that he has prosthetic blender beaters for hands, but looks aghast when they tell him they could just eat new Smoothie Mix Skittles instead. In 'Sheep Boys' two human-faced sheep marvel at the new fruity taste combinations as they chew the Smoothie Mix Skittles scattered over a tree stump.
A clean background plate was shot of the farmyard. The plan had been to film both sheep and boys in the farmyard to get an optimum match in the lighting. But the wind blew that plan away and a second shoot was done in a studio with artificial wind blown at the sheep so they'd fit into the blustery farmyard. The sheep were filmed eating pellets off the tree stump, then the boys in woollen wigs and collars were filmed with their heads at similar angles. It was then over to The Mill Flame artist Angus Kneale and his team to create the hybrids.
