Nike Direct and Art+Commerce director Tim Richardson worked with The Mill to create the fierce spot 'Vapor,' Nike's introduction to the new 'untouchable' cleat.
'Vapor' features the unique materials used to create the cleat. The fabric was made from Nike Flyknit, which used five recycled plastic bottles per shoe, paired with a gleaming carbon fiber plating. The film is a dramatic reimagining of the threading and binding of the cleat, from microscopic detail to turf-kicking glory.

The Mill team worked side-by-side with Tim to set the look. A thorough previs was built, which became the core foundation for this fully CG spot. The CG artists created a specific pipeline for the collaborative creative process.
On set, seven cameras were synced to capture the hero players in action, from several different angles. The photos were then processed and built as a reference model for the player's poses. The fiber FX were created bespoke from scratch. The ripple and explosion of the turf was meticulously crafted for the final touch.
The Mill's striking animation envisions the innovative technology Nike used to create the lightweight and speedy cleat.
