The Mill and W&K Amsterdam have collaborated on the ‘Make the Difference’ campaign, a series of new ads for Nikefootball.com that feature three of the game’s biggest stars - Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery and Arsenal’s Andrei Arshavin.
The first to air, sees Wayne Rooney looking at his reflection in the changing room mirror whilst a gravel-voiced voiceover announces, 'Welcome to the Zone.'

Rooney then picks up an electric razor and proceeds to shave his head as the voiceover continues, "Most guys... won't go near the place. Others, season after season, they call it home." Once finished, Rooney stares intensely once more at his reflection before opening his mouth and (silently) shouts at the mirror. The spot quickly cuts to the strapline 'Make the Difference - nikefootball.com'.
Pete Rypstra, Lead Flame said, "The creative brief was to make the Rooney spot feel as real as possible. No frills and no glamour. This was mainly achieved with a great performance from Rooney and with Seamus's grade. Rooney was still sporting an injury to his ear so it was replaced with a photo of Flame Assist Andy Bate's ear."
