Director Fillip Engstrom rates casting high in his priorities for filmmaking. Yet, ironically, all but two of the cast in Invisible are literally invisible, their form defined only by their animated accoutrements. Two smart people become visible only when they get into and drive off in their Mitsubishi Outlander.
The Mill combined motion capture of everyday props and fashion accessories with a stylish grade. "Our main challenge," says Yann Mabille, Joint Head of 3D, "was to make all the actions fully readable and clear, using only a few props. And not just by putting hats on everyone." The invisible people were defined solely by their shades, hat, watch, shoes, skateboard, baby stroller, grocery bags, and so on.
For The Mill Flame artist Naomi Anderlini, 'The end result is magical. It's always good to work on spots that display the wizardry of what we do."
