Directed by Outsider's Scott Lyon, which whom The Mill has collaborated with on a number of projects ranging from spots for Honda, Clarks and Nike to music promos for the likes of Mark Ronson and the Kaiser Chiefs. The colourful 60 second commercial premiered on Saturday 2nd April.
"The key challenges of this spot were in the pre-planning and choreography," explains Wes, our Lead 2D artist on the project. "There were 13 shots and each one wipes onto the end of the previous one. It all had to be shot motion control in sequential order so that the action could step on from one scene to the next. As well as myself, Bill the editor was also on the shoot so that between us we could aid director Scott in keeping track of the 8 different pieces of key action.
"The shots were edited together as we shot so that we could view the continuity after each take. Back at The Mill, we then matted key areas where the action overlapped into other scenes, changed the flight of the frisbee so that the dog catches the one thrown by the man, and wiped the scenes together."
