The Mill is thrilled to announce a win for JAY-Z’s ‘The Story O.J.’ at last night’s ADC Awards in New York City. Directed by JAY-Z and Mark Romanek via Anonymous Content, the multi award-winning music video picked up Bronze in the Craft in Motion: Animation category.
Now in its 97th year, the prestigious award ceremony has “continuously honored the very best in meticulous craftsmanship in the worlds of design, advertising, motion and other commercial creative arts.”
JAY-Z’s concept for ‘The Story of O.J.’ draws on the stylistic conventions of theatrical cartoons from the 1930s-40s and highlights the many prejudices and stereotypes of the era. The Mill’s design and animation team realized JAY-Z’s vision using a combination of hand-drawn cel animation, computer graphics and painted backgrounds, collaborating with Titmouse to animate the original characters.
Congratulations to all of last night’s winners!
