Last week The Mill’s London studio ran a week of training activities as part of Learning at Work Week.

The week saw all manner of Mill staff from senior creatives to runners getting involved in hour long workshops, breakfast sessions and lunchtime talks focusing on areas such as motivation, time management and punching home your message. All of these were delivered by a diverse range of speakers, including actors, musicians, comedians and voice coaches.

In addition to working with a host of trainers and presenters, there were also talks from the London studio’s head of animation Jorge Montiel, who gave an insightful talk about telling stories through motion and workflow architect Neil Evely spoke to staff about relevant innovations in technology.

Simon Devereux, group head of learning & development said ‘having only been at The Mill for a year I was keen to showcase the L&D brand by giving staff a taster of what can be achieved through different approaches to learning and training. It was also great to try out actors, comedians and musicians who you wouldn’t normally consider for training, but based on the feedback, this approach has paid off immensely.’

Particular highlights from the week included:

Harry Key’s breakfast workshop on flirting with success, designed to highlight and improve interpersonal skills, using the art of flirting to influence people.

‘Eat That Frog’ – a motivational workshop delivered by DJ Krust and Rhyan Paul about wasting time effectively.

The big success of the week was a communication session run by professional actors Ana Carus-Wilson and Neil Bett, who challenged those involved to ditch the buzz words and management jargon, encouraging them to communicate in an authentic and connected way.
