The Mill is pleased to announce the promotions of Tara DeMarco and John Shirley to Creative Directors in the Los Angeles studio.

Among the first to join The Mill when it launched in the U.S., Tara has accumulated over a dozen years between her time in the New York and Los Angeles studios. While leading projects in her previous role as Lead Flame Artist & VFX Supervisor, Tara worked closely with the Production team to ensure the overall smooth operation of the 2D Department. She will continue in this vital capacity as Creative Director while taking an active role in developing the talent within junior and mid-level 2D artists.

Tara’s proven external reach has resulted in longstanding relationships with directors and agencies alike, leading to successful projects such as Apple ‘Appocalypse’, Geico ‘Flextacular’ and Wix’s Super Bowl 2017 campaign starring Gal Gadot and Jason Statham.

John has been a Lead Flame Artist & VFX Supervisor at The Mill in Los Angeles for over four years, overseeing many of the company’s largest VFX projects. With his dedication and skill, he has excelled in developing strong ties with directors and agencies while working on hugely successful campaigns such as the award-winning Audi ‘Duel’ and StubHub ‘Machines’. As Creative Director, John will continue to build his relationships with companies including Wieden+Kennedy (Portland) and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

Executive Creative Director Phil Crowe says, “As we build our team of Creative Directors to strengthen The Mill’s collective bond with our clients, having them able to look after multiple jobs and clients at the same time has underpinned the success of The Mill LA. This exciting step will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of how we can focus on and mobilize those relationships. It’s also a significant development in bolstering the opportunities for our tremendously talented team!”

Congratulations, Tara and John!
